Gyratory crusher and large jaw crusher can be used as a coarse crushing equipment, so we should have a certain understanding and comparison for the two kinds of crusher to make right selection and operation.
Compared with jaw crusher, gyratory crusher has following advantages:
(1) It runs stably, has light vibration, and small effect on foundation and buildings.
(2) The effect on crushing and breaking ore. Because the compressive strength of ore is 5-15 times of its bending strength, when crush 1T ore, the energy consumption of gyratory crusher is 0.5-1.2 times than the jaw crusher with same feed opening.
(3) It has high production capacity for its continuous feeding. The production capacity is more than twice the jaw crusher with same feed opening.
(4) It can be feed at any place or the large type of gyratory crusher can be feed by tilting car.
(5) It is easy to start. While when start jaw crusher, needs to turn the heavy fly wheel with tools or star step by step.
(6) It has large crushing ratio and uniform products granularity.
Compare with the jaw crusher, gyrator crusher has following disadvantages:
(1) It is hard to manufacture for its complex structure, so the price is high, normally is 0.3-1.5 times than jaw crusher with same feed opening.
(2) Large weight and high machine body than jaw crusher with same feed opening, 1.7-2 times heavier and 2-2.5 times higher. So the construction cost of plant increases.
(3) Complex maintenance and repair, hard to check.
(4) Easy to block especially in treading ore with more mud and large viscosity.
